What to check first

• Whether one bot covers several of your needs. Five utility bots is five things to keep updated and five sets of permissions.
• Reaction roles or button roles, if you need them — the implementation matters more than the feature, because a broken role menu is a support ticket every day.
• Whether reminders and scheduled messages survive a restart.
• Permission scope. Utility bots often ask for manage-roles, which is the permission most worth being careful about.

This is the category where consolidation pays. Each additional bot is another account with permissions in your server, another thing that can go down, and another set of commands your members have to remember. If one bot does welcome messages, role menus and polls acceptably, that is usually better than three bots that each do one of them slightly better.

Role menus deserve particular attention because they are where permission mistakes become visible. A bot that assigns roles needs manage-roles, and its own role has to sit above every role it hands out. Getting that wrong produces a menu that silently does nothing, which is the single most common support question in this category.

For anything time-based — reminders, scheduled announcements, recurring events — the question is where the schedule lives. A bot holding it in memory loses everything on restart. A bot holding it in a database does not, and will usually say so.
