What to check first

• Which sources it actually supports today, not which ones its description was written for.
• Whether it needs its own hosting or a paid tier to stay in your server — many free music bots limit queue length or audio quality.
• Queue controls: skip votes, per-user limits and a way to stop one person monopolising the playlist.
• How it behaves when the last person leaves the voice channel. A bot that plays to an empty room burns its own resources and yours.

This category has a history worth knowing about. Several of the largest music bots on Discord were shut down after platform takedowns, taking the playlists and setups of millions of servers with them. Anything you pick here should be judged partly on whether it looks likely to survive, which mostly means: does it have a funding model, and is it honest about which sources it uses.

Audio quality is decided by the bot's hosting, not by the source. A bot running on a cheap shared host will stutter in a busy voice channel no matter where the audio came from. If the listings you are comparing report their server counts, a bot with a very large count and no visible funding is one to look at twice — that is a lot of concurrent streams for somebody to be paying for.

Finally, check what happens to your queue when the bot restarts. Some rebuild it, most do not, and a bot that silently drops a two-hour playlist during a maintenance window will be the reason your members ask for a different one.
