What to check first

• Whether games run in a thread or in the main channel. A twenty-round trivia match in general chat is a twenty-round interruption.
• How many people can play at once, and what happens when someone leaves halfway through.
• For game-server integrations: which games, and whether the link needs an account on their side.
• Whether progress is saved. A game that resets when the bot restarts is a demo.

The distinction worth making early is between games that fill five minutes and games that build state over weeks. The first kind — trivia, hangman, quick card games — needs to be fast and needs to stay out of the way. The second kind — RPG systems, collection games, anything with an inventory — is closer to an economy bot and brings the same questions about balance, grinding and who is winning because they started first.

Integrations are their own thing. A bot that pulls your rank from an external game is only as reliable as that game's API, which is outside anybody's control here. Check when the listing was last updated and whether the bot reports its own status; an integration that quietly returns stale numbers is worse than one that says it is down.

For anything competitive, look at how the leaderboard handles a server with mixed activity levels. All-time boards reward the earliest players forever; weekly or monthly resets give everyone else a reason to play this week.
